It’s a fact that a country’s military force forms its backbone. It not just protects a nation from all kinds of external security threats, but also ensures that the citizens lead a safe and happy life.
This is why soldiers are regarded as the heroes of the nation. But once the same hero completes his tenure or leaves the force because of any war injury, nobody even cares to think about him.
In a bid to do away with this gross negligence, Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation of United States is all set to organize its annual Night of Heroes Gala very soon.
You must be thinking, what kind of business does an actor like Kevin McKidd have with it? Well, the Journeyman alumnus will be one of the special guests of the event. And he will be handing over the awards to the wounded soldiers, as the token of honor for their services to the nation.
Well, this might not seem to be as glitzy as some other red carpet event. But it is indeed one of the important annual affairs of the US military force. And I must say, Kevin McKidd is fortunate enough to attend the conglomeration of the forgotten heroes of war.
Kevin’s role as Dr. Owen Hunt in Grey’s Anatomy has managed to draw an image of war-returned military surgeon in the minds of the people. And his presence at the annual event of Pentagon foundation is certainly going to give it a further boost.
By the way, his role in Journeyman episodes was also challenging. If Grey’s Anatomy allowed to him to don the role of surgeon, the sci-fi series presented him as an indefatigable newspaper reporter who could travel backward in time.
Coming back to the topic of interest, he could have easily declined the offer of attending the event by citing the lame excuse of a hectic schedule. But since he was aware of the importance of the lives of wounded soldiers, he accepted it readily. Let that be a lesson for all!
